A thank you to our litter pickers!

A thank you to litter-pickers! Lewes District Council hosted a coffee morning to thank the volunteer litter pickers who help keep our communities clean and tidy. The Ditchling Society was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation and would like to share the words of gratitude with all the local residents who support the Ditchling litter picks and village tidy ups.

A special thank you goes to Nicholas Blake who tirelessly litter picks in Ditchling throughout the year.

Liz Pope of the Ditchling Society (r), with Nicholas Blake (l) and Neil Peters, Community Recycling Engagement Officer for Lewes District and Eastbourne Councils

Lewes District Council has a great new app to make reporting litter and flytipping easier than ever. To download the Report It (Love Clean Streets) smartphone app, go to Report It smartphone app – Lewes and Eastbourne Councils (lewes-eastbourne.gov.uk). We encourage as many residents as possible to download and use the app – the more reports the Council receives of an incident of rubbish or fly tipping, the higher up the response list it will go.

The Ditchling Society will be carrying out a survey of the village this spring to note all the jobs that need doing to smarten up the village, including cleaning signs and lamp posts, cutting back overgrowth, weeding pavements and so on. We will then again be asking our wonderful volunteers to help out. In the meantime, if you notice something that you would like added to the list please forward details to Liz Pope at [email protected].

Many thanks for all your hard work and support.
